I have been meaning to post a note about some of the recent changes here, but have been busier then a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs (been dying to use that phrase for some time ;’)… I’ve adopted a new theme called nobus, designed by Dezzain Studio. The UI is not [...]

Text-Link-Ads tech support lacks interest in WordPress

This began as a casual note, a reminder, if you will, to techsupport (at) text-link-ads.com. It escalated to where I wondered just how Text-Link-Ads (a MediaWhiz Holdings, Inc. Company) developed it’s hiring practices… Having signed up I was directed to download a plugin for WordPress. I noticed it was a raw PHP file (rarely done [...]

I was thinking about a way to showcase older posts and happened across the Zazz Post Tickerplugin by Stew Houston. I thought “Here we go, another chance for me to totally bork my blog with some unknown piece of code…” So I picked up the scissors and blah-blah-blah (you get the idea). I took a [...]

Since domains are often indexed differently (with and without the www prefix), I’m jumping on the no-www bandwagon. For more info visit Ease of use with WordPress influenced me to use Mark Jaquith’s Enforce www. Preference plugin (which works for ‘enforcing’ either a www or no-www preference).

About Me widget for WordPress – v1.0 (TinyMCE)

Posted in August 14th, 2007

When I first started a WordPress blog I wanted to add some personal identification to the front page in an effort to promote validity/identity/what-evah. ‘Widgets’ were somewhat new to WP so I thought this was the approach for me. I ended up with a minor struggle using a text widget and got what I wanted. [...]

Quick look at WordPress issues in July:

Posted in July 29th, 2006

WordPress 2.0.4 was released on the 29th. With over 60 bugs squashed since 2.0.3 (including what little substantive portion there was of Dr. Doom’s(sic) “OMG-The-Sky-Is-Falling” reference) this is the most secure, stable release or WordPress. Upgrade now. Shh. Zip it! Just do it. In addition, Mark Jaquith has posted a 2.0.3 > 2.0.4 changed/diff list [...]

Quick look at WordPress issues in June:

Shortstat: There's an issue with shortstat 1.3 and WordPress 2.0.x. Try this fix: I was having the same trouble with logging not occurring. is_admin_page()* was returning true for non-admin pages. I just commented that line out, and it’s working for me on WP 2.0.2 – I don’t know what other effects doing this will have. [...]

About Me widget for WordPress

Since I don’t consider my blog anonymous or ‘seekrit’ I grabbed a text widget and started adding an “About Me’ to my sidebar. After trying to get things aligned, formatted, and adding a few links I started thinking a widget might be nice for this. I had not seen anything like this around, so here [...]

WordPress 2.0.3 was released June 1 (I know, I know, it's not May but I'm including it anyway). If you get it, make sure you read about the "Are you sure?" tuneup Mark released. On May 24th, a new version of Akismet appeared! Basically it just cleans up the formatting of the spam page a [...]
